How to win a free trip to South Korea next month

Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Imagine exploring the vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and rich history of South Korea—all for free!

The thing I love about tourism organizations, is that every so often they arrange promotional opportunities that gives a few lucky people an experience of a lifetime. In 2009, Tourism Queensland launched their "Best Job in the World" campaign to offer a 6-month caretaker role for an island in the Great Barrier Reef. In 2016, the Swedish Tourism Association launched their "The Swedish Number" campaign, where anyone in the world could call in and speak to a Swedish person about any topic... perhaps not a life changing experience, but certainly something unexpected and out of the ordinary.

Now Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has posted a new opportunity in connection to their "Visit Korea Year 2023-2024" campaign. A select group of individuals will be invited to a free, 5-day tour to South Korea including flight tickets and travel expenses. If you are a non-Korean national with a special connection to Korea, this might be your chance to explore the country.

The theme of the campaign is personal stories, memories or connections to Korea, meaning that anyone with an interesting relationship or fascination with the country stands a chance to win. No specified heritage, abilities or unique circumstances are required to apply, like in many other cases. KTO encourages applicants to submit photos and videos alongside their 3000 character motivation for why they want to be selected and what they want to do/see during their time in Korea.

The winners will be invited to visit Korea between May 20 - 24, 2024 and spend one day on a compulsory tour and three next days exploring Korea with a personalized tour package. The applicant is free to suggest what activities they would like to take part in, what sights they would like to see, and perhaps even people they would like to meet. In short, let your story inspire your travels.

Applications are open from March 19 – April 19, 2024 / Until 23:59:59 (KST).

Applicants must:

• Be non-Korean nationals residing outside of Korea (Korean citizens and residents are ineligible)

• Have a special connections to Korea

• Be available from May 20 - May 24, 2024 for a trip to Korea

• Be eligible for entry restrictions, have a valid passport etc., before applying

The winners will be notified by individual email on April 30, 2024 (KST).
