9. About cookies, pixels, adblockers and profiling

9.1 Cookies

The Changing Booth and our service providers use so-called cookies on our websites. A cookie is a small text file that is sent from a website to your browser. The cookie cannot identify you personally, but only the browser that is installed on your computer that you use when visiting the website in question (including tablets and phones with an internet connection). Different cookies are therefore on different computers in case you use different computers to reach our websites.

Cookies are sent to you from the website you visit (so-called first-party cookie) or from another organization that supplies services to the website in question, such as an analysis and statistics company (so-called third-party cookie). There are two types of cookies, one type is called a session cookie and the other is a persistent cookie. A session cookie is sent to your computer in order for the web pages to function correctly during your visit. A session cookie is not stored on your computer, but disappears when you close your browser. A permanent cookie, on the other hand, is stored on your computer and makes e.g. so that a web page can recognize your computer's IP address and thus your browser the next time you log in. We use both session cookies and permanent cookies on our websites. They are mainly needed for the functionality of our services, to help us improve our delivery of products and services, to provide you with additional functionality or to help us target relevant and customized advertisements to you.

Most browsers have a default setting that accepts the use of cookies. You can easily refuse to allow The Changing Booth's web pages to store cookies on your computer by making a setting in your browser, including blocking cookies or deleting the cookies that are stored on your computer.

Please note that if you choose not to allow cookies, certain functionalities of our websites may cease to function safely and correctly and certain services may not be provided. How to delete or change the settings for cookies is specified in the instructions for your browser or in the help function that is normally available in the browser. On some of our web pages, we may also ask for your consent to our handling of cookies and other electronic aids. For information on what your consent includes and how you revoke your consent, we refer to the information provided on the respective website where such a request is made.

9.2 Pixels

In addition to cookies, we also use pixels on our websites. Pixels are electronic tools that enable us to display customized advertisements to you on the website(s) to which each pixel belongs. Each pixel collects information about your behavior when you visit our websites, including the URLs you visit, and the information is stored with the company to which the respective pixel belongs. The Changing Booth can then use the information to create target groups for our marketing. We can then produce customized advertisements for each target group that we publish on the websites whose pixels we use. The information collected through the pixel is aggregated and cannot be linked to you as an individual.

We use pixels from Google and Facebook. The reason we use pixels is so that we can better present advertisements to you when you visit websites operated by Facebook or Google. Through the advertisements, for example, you may receive information about articles that have been published in one of The Changing Booth's magazines or offers for subscriptions to magazines that we think you would be interested in.

The Facebook pixel is only activated if you have a user account on Facebook and have given Facebook permission to show you customized ads. You can revoke your consent to personalized ads on Facebook at any time by changing the settings of your Facebook account. To change your ad settings, follow this link. In addition to the information collected through the Facebook pixel on our websites, Facebook can also collect information about your behavior on the Facebook website. For information on how Facebook processes your personal data, follow this link. You can also read more about the Facebook pixel here.

9.3 Ad blockers

Our website uses JavaScript to detect the use of browser adblocker software. This script is implemented in our website's source code. It simulates the display of an ad and confirms whether the ad is displayed on the user's device or not. We do not store any information in the user's equipment and do not process users' personal data when we use the script. If we detect the use of adblocker software, we may interact with the user regarding the use of such software and/or adjust the content the user has access to.

9.4 Profiling

Provided that you have given your consent to this, we may compile information about you in order to offer you as a visitor of our website relevant and adapted information and marketing from The Changing Booth's various services. The compilation we carry out means that we gather information about our customers and web visitors in order to get an overview of who they are and what needs they have, so-called profiling.

How extensive profiling is carried out and what it will mean for you as a customer or web visitor depends on how you have chosen to give your consent. You can provide your consent in the two ways indicated below, for the profiling described in the respective consent.

Consent to newsletters and other marketing: If, through a request on our website, you choose to start a subscription to our newsletter, we ask you to give your consent to your personal data being processed for marketing purposes, which includes, among other things, our handling of your subscription to our newsletter as well as profiling in order to direct personal offers and news to you as a customer.

Through our profiling, your information, such as purchasing habits and interests, is compiled with information from other customers. No information is reviewed on a personal level, but all personal data is grouped and analyzed on an overall level to find overall patterns. Based on these general insights, qualified guesses are made of your wishes. Thus, a specific individual's data is never reviewed, and the individual contribution to this large amount of information cannot be identified.

It is only from subscribers of newsletters that such personal information is collected and this information is not of a sensitive nature. Age and gender are the only directly personal data collected. Other information that is retrieved is visitor data from the websites and geographic statistics, i.e. information that does not point to an individual person but to the area where the person lives. As soon as our newsletter subscribers choose to end their newsletters, all information related to them is de-identified.

The results obtained from the profiling are used commercially to provide you as a customer with more relevant offers and thus a more pleasant experience on our websites and/or in your customer relationship with us.

Consent to personal advertising: In addition to your consent to our newsletter, we will ask you for a separate consent to see and take part in personal advertisements when you visit our website. The consent to personal advertising is completely separate from the consent to our newsletter and the fact that you give one of the described consents does not mean that you automatically also give the other consent.

When you visit The Changing Booth's website, you will be asked if you wish to receive personalized advertising. If you choose to give your consent, we will send a request to the cookie stored in your browser and based on the information stored in your cookie, personalized advertisements will be designed for you and published on our website during your visit. If you instead choose not to receive personal advertisements, you will instead take part in our usual and general advertising during your visit. After some time, we will make a new request for consent, in case you have changed your mind.

You may choose to withdraw any of your consents described above at any time. When you withdraw your consent, we cease all processing of your personal data to which you have previously given your consent. You withdraw your consent to the newsletter and other marketing measures by unsubscribing from the newsletter via a link available at the bottom of each newsletter you receive. Consent to personal advertising is revoked on the relevant website.

10. Changes to the privacy policy

Please note that the terms of the privacy policy may change. In such cases, the new version will be published on The Changing Booth websites. You should therefore review these terms periodically to ensure that you are happy with the changes. In the event of changes of material importance, we will, however, notify you via e-mail, if you have notified us of your e-mail address, that changes have taken place.

If the changes concern such personal data processing that we carry out based on your consent, we will give you the opportunity to give your consent again.
